A little girl no more…

My baby turned 8 last month and I’m still having a hard time getting over it. I think all parents can relate to the feeling that it doesn’t seem possible that their baby has grown up so quickly, yet at the same time, it’s hard to remember a time when they weren’t a part of our lives. While she and I bonk heads occasionally (she’s too much like her father… ) she is an amazing daughter and I am so proud of the young lady she is becoming.

Remember…. Always

We went to the Healing Field in Sandy, Utah this weekend to pay tribute to our military heroes. The sight of 3,000 flags, each representing an outstanding individual who lost their life in the disaster of September 11 was awe-inspiring. While it is a reminder of loss and tragedy, it was amazing to see how many people were there to show their respect and thanks to those who still choose to protect this great nation. A lot of things have changed over the last 10 years, some good, some not so good. The world my children will grow up in is vastly different than the one that I grew up in. Change in itself does not have to be negative or positive, only different. It is up to us what we do with those changes. Hopefully I can raise my children to be accepting and contributing members of society who will always remember where we came from to learn where we want to be.
